From Fortica near Crekvina, we exit onto the forest road, past the ecostasis sign, and continue straight to the junction with the path from Jelovičan.
We turn right and continue straight all the way to the village of Jelovičani by the village well (sterna) and further along the road towards Breza and left onto the forest road to the hunting lodge “Sebenjino”. We stick to the right path to the old guardhouse and boundary stone from year 1920. Then we are already close to the village of Breza, completely burned in the Second World War, and we continue along the road past the church and the cemetery to the “Mačkov vrh” rest area.
To the left, the path climbs to the highest peak in Kastava, the hill Mačkov vrh (504 m), from which there is a wonderful view of the hinterland of Kastava, Učka and Gorski Kotar, and on the south side of Kvarner.
We descend back to the path to Sparožna jama. We follow the path to the rest stop “Stanić” (it is also possible to climb Stanić peak 465 m), from where the path descends to the village of Brajani, along the abandoned village of Cari and Spinčićev breg, through the village of Brnini and further towards Kastav, to Fortica.
