This local coupage is increasingly appreciated in Croatian oenological circles, and is characterised by the unique taste of vines ripened on the sunny hills of the Kastav region. Kastav, a city with a rich history, is widely known for Bela Nedeja, a fair held on the first Sunday in October when young wine is poured, and many mistakenly think that only Kastav’s Belica is poured. Thanks to the work on the quality of Kastavian winemakers in cooperation with the Department of Biotechnology of the University of Rijeka, belica has been rated as a top wine in recent years.
